Cheryl Watson - Watson & Walker, Inc. She also has a
some articles online there that you may find interesting.
I only add vendor pages when there is non-commercial white
papers, downloadable freeware, etc. - so her site fits in...
- Link near the end of the Slang page to
other computer terminology pages.

The
IBM HLASM web site (the official HLASM web page) is now
available on the web. IBM was kind enough to let me know a head of time
and I've changed my Dave's unofficial HLASM web
page to point to IBM's site. I've also split items on my HLASM FAQ
and tips page into true HLASM-related items and move S/390 Assembler
programming items to separate pages. Other than rearranging and
appearance, the only thing I've really done was add these three new
entries:

|
- Each section of Dave's Computer Links was
moved to a single web page to cut down the download time.
A few of the graphics were also eliminated as well.
A few new links were added to the pages:
- The PROGxx ISPF edit macro was updated
to parse all known APFLST synonyms for DSNAME and VOL. The
Dataset name and volume serials have the system symbolics
translated.

two functions that enhance the use of
the IBM-supplied ISRCUT and ISRPASTE edit macros.

turning it into part of a commerical product.

Updated the HLASM FAQ with information that
Gilbert Saint-flour sent me. It is a post about a
benchmark he did on the High Level Assembler. This is in the
How do I speed up the HLASM? section
of the FAQ.

- Added a new entry to the
HLASM FAQ:
How do I speed up the HLASM?
- Non-MVS web page update: Dave's R.I.P..
Added a paragraph about something you probably already know about:
Tritus/SPF has a "PASTE WINCLIP" function in version 1.2.8 that
allows you to paste from the Windows clipboard. It still works
with current releases of Windows. I use it under the
Windows 98 beta 3.
I got an email today from a guy that is trying to do what I have
been hoping would happen: bring Tritus/SPF back from the dead. He
has tried to contact the Tritus/SPF developer and business manager
but has had little luck so far. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

- Updated the
HLASM tips to add new entry
VM tips
(Prepare yourself for disappointment)
- Updated the
HLASM FAQ to add new entry
What Assembler is Y2K compliant?
- Renamed the internal name of the "What's New Archive" page from
WNEWOLD.HTM to WNEWARCH.HTM, so I don't carelessly delete it.
- Non-MVS web page update: Dave's R.I.P., I
mention the death of BYTE magazine. It had been going downhill
for years and had went from being very technical to being the
USA Today of computer magazines.

Added to Dave's Computer links:
Created the What's New ***Archive***
page for
"What's new on
Dave's MVS web pages"
entries that are older
than 3 or 4 months.

Changed XMIT DCB attribute suggestion on
Download instructions (for XMIT files).
Previously I had said XMIT files needed to be 80 80 Fixed but TSO
allows LRECL=80 BLKSIZE=3120 RECFM=FB. I haven't tried a higher
blksize but 3120 is sure better than 80 for improving the performance
of an upload.

The page layout was altered slightly to remove the big T.Rex and put
the two T.Rex facing each other at the top of the page.
- On May 21, I fixed about 5 of my Freeware pages that bad
referback links to the Freeware
page. Someone on the IBMTCP-L mailing list alerted me to this.

The weather is getting nicer and I'm spending less time in front of a
computer. The web site is getting stale... Here are my first updates in
over a month:
- Added a link to a PDF file of the "glossy" product information
about the HLASM on my
HLASM web page.
- Links added to Dave's Computer Links
- Misc freeware:
- Added ISPF34L Rexx exec
that is useful for creating utility control cards from
datasets in an ISPF 3.4 list.
- Added XMITINFO Rexx exec
that shows information about a TSO XMIT file. Can be used
on a PC.
- Modified IMGINFO Rexx exec
with misc cosmetic upgrades.

|
Added an entry to the
HLASM FAQ about new OPCODES.
|
16 March 1998
|
- Moved my HLASM web pages to a
separate directory.
- Added a silly hex analog clock on
HLASM web page.
The source is clock.java. You
will also need
coordinate.class and
clock.class if you want
to make a copy for your own web pages. The source for the
coordinate.class file is not available because it was
not found on the book's CDROM.
I found this clock in a
Java book called "JAVA Programmer's Library" and added the hex
strings. Feel free to snag this Java applet if you want. Here
is a sample html file that invokes the applet called
clock.htm.
- Added a post from IBM-MAIN about protecting/recovering from
JES2 proclib deletions on my
MVS Tips page.
- Non-MVS web page changes:
- Thanks to Leif Trager for his contributions for
AIX Rexx which was added to the
Rexx Anywhere! page.
|
8 March 1998
|
- Added a great new Mainframe site,
IBM Mainframe Programmers Resource Page to my
Dave's Computer Links page. I also
added a fastpath to the various sections at the top of the
links page.
- I'm putting the finishing touches on a new version of my
TCP/IP Monitor ISPF application. Email me at my work address of
dalcock@csw.com if you want
a copy before it gets posted on the web site.

- Made My old Freeware page a gateway
to the new home of my freeware.
- Updated the SMPEPP exec to
handle OS/390 2.4 SMP/E and fix some misc bugs.
- Updated the Credits page to reflect
that others may own copyrights to terms I use on my web pages.
|
1 March 1998
|
- Misc text added to the MVS Tips page.
- On the MVS Mail page, I added
the HTML MIME suspected type.
- Non-MVS web page changes:
|
28 February 1998
|
- Been at the SHARE conference - no changes in a week! I haven't
been to SHARE since 1995 and was disappointed about no cute
buttons for sale.
- Non-MVS web page changes:
|
19 February 1998
|
|
16 February 1998
|
- Added the
Acronym Finder
on the terms page.
Thanks for the tip, Lionel.
- On the HLASM FAQ page, I was
finally able to credit
Martin Leist
for his post to the ASM370 newsgroup on how to use the IDF
authorized. I had saved that for my personal use before I started
this web page and then had hoped someone would come forward.
- Non-MVS web page changes:
- Correction made about Rexx comment line on VM
(Thanks to Eric
Bitterman for pointing that out)
and a much needed restructuring of that section of the
Rexxany page was done.

- Started the "What's New" page (a self reference)
- TASID update on the

- Added link to IBM's VSM FAQ on the

- For a cool effect, added the "noshade" parm on
a couple of the HR tags, for example:
